About this deal

This blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache and Shiraz showcase the best grapes of Australia, and luscious, dark wine. The “Uprising,” a blend of shiraz, cabernet sauvignon, and grenache aged in rum barrels, is a tribute to the Rum Rebellion of 1808; on its label is Cornelius Dwyer Kane, a law clerk from County Cork who was transported on Oct. Each bottle and its character are essentially able to come to life through a connected app and augmented reality.

Sure, there are the top-of-the-line fancy cold brew coffee makers out there, but they're often ridiculously expensive and take up too much counter space for their sole function. Fans of the wine will be able to get their hands on limited-edition bottles for Halloween featuring glow in the dark skeletons – line them up side by side on a wine rack in a dark corner for a look that’s creepily good. In a matter of seconds, the character on the label will come to life in an incredibly realistic video during which the criminal will tell his entire story and the tale of how he was exiled to Australia. Founded in 2012, 19 Crimes is nestled under the massive wine company known as Treasury Wine Estates.

The men (and women) adorning the 19 Crimes labels were punished to “transportation” at the start of 1783 for committing at least one of the 19 crimes. So far, her favorite destinations have been Ios, Greece and Paris, France where she enjoyed some of the best bottles of vino around and she looks forward to traversing more of the globe with friends and family.

Upon conviction British rogues guilty of at least one of the 19 crimes were sentenced to live in Australia, rather than death. And with their 2019 partnership with Snoop and most recent collaboration with Martha Stewart, their message is loud and clear — 19 Crimes wine is for rule-breakers. On the regular red blend, for example, is John Boyle O’Reilly, an Irishman who joined the Fenians in 1864 to rebel against British rule in Ireland; along with a large group of Fenians, O’Reilly was arrested in February of 1866, tried for treason, and sentenced to death. For what it’s worth, though, u/Brassafrax has been incredibly active in the r/AskAHistorian subreddit; their area of expertise is legal history — and I was able to verify most of what they wrote independently, so I feel OK taking them at their word here in terms of their credentials. Crimes takes its name from the list of crimes for which people could be sentenced to transportation — offences which ranged from “grand larceny” to “stealing a shroud out of a grave. Crimes illustrate the true story of some of this criminals who became colonists for a new culture in the Australian territory, which means that each of the characters featured in the bottles were real. This lovely Australian variation on a classic Pinot provides nice smokey, spicy undertones to a wine that showcases lots of bright cherry and strawberry fruits.
