It’s National Rum Day on 16 August, so with that in mind, we thought it was only fitting to share some of our favourite rums with you. All of the rum that we tried were blends, most hailing from the Caribbean, with a few from Australia and South and Central America, but all are bottled in the UK. As a spirit ages in barrels, a certain amount is lost through evaporation over the years. Known as the angels' share in scotch whisky production, this is far too tame for the world of rum...
We know that rum is not only a delicious spirit, but one that is largely underrated and consumed not nearly enough. It’s the easiest and most flexible of the spirits and as such it allows anyone to create a delicious drink that will amaze and delight their friends.On the nose, rich notes of velvet caramel and tamarind are balanced with light and floral tones of toasted coconut and violet. In the whisky world, the angels take their share of whisky from the casks maturing it. In the Caribbean, it's the mischievous Duppy spirits that travel from island to island, taking their share of rum from the casks. This legend is where the stylish Duppy Share Caribbean Rum takes its name. It's made from a blend of bourbon-barrel-matured 5 year old rum from Barbados and 3 year old rum from Jamaica. A bright, bold and altogether very handsome rum.

While it isn’t particularly impactful on the nose, the quality of the rum comes through on the palate. There is a woody spice to the flavour, coming from being aged in American oak bourbon barrels, and a hint of cinnamon and nutmeg coming through in the finish.
