About this deal

The US Environmental Protection Agency states that Frontline can be used in puppies and kittens 8 weeks of age and older. However, beyond those advantages, the spot-on treatments would appear to have more advantages and better safety parameters compared to the spray, especially for routine use in cats.

Side Effects of Frontline Plus for Cats

Have the product container or label with you when calling a poison control center or doctor, or going for treatment. Under the Frontline overview article in the FAQ section, the first topic How Effective is Frontline for Cats? You’ll find these plus some other reasons to consider if you feel a product isn’t working. Ease of use: Look for products that are easy to use. When comparing two similar products, the easiest one to apply may be your best bet. For instance, we ranked products lower if a person must wear gloves to apply the treatment or if children and pets must be kept away from the treated animal for a specified time. Although topical flea control products are typically easier to use (no need to convince your cat to swallow a pill), there are some cases when an oral preventive is an ideal choice among the best flea treatments for cats. For instance, some cats with sensitive skin can't tolerate a spot-on treatment. "Comfortis is one of the ones I like," Harper says. "It's harder to get the cat to take an oral product, but if you can manage it, it's a pretty effective oral flea medication. It's strictly and solely for fleas." Following is my long answer for advantages and disadvantages for the spray vs. the spot-on products.

With their fur parted, place the tip of the pipette against their skin and add a few drops of liquid at a time until you see them dissolve away. Waiting a few moments between drops will keep the product from flowing down and over its coat. It is a violation of Federal Law to use this product in a manner inconsistent with its labeling. Do not allow children to apply product. TO PREVENT HARM TO YOU AND YOUR PET, READ ENTIRE LABEL AND DIRECTIONS BEFORE EACH USE. FOLLOW ALL DIRECTIONS AND PRECAUTIONARY STATEMENTS CAREFULLY. USE ON CATS ONLY. DO NOT USE ON RABBITS. DO NOT USE ON OTHER ANIMALS. Comfortis is one of two oral flea control products available for cats; the other is Capstar Flea Control Tablets. Unlike Capstar, which kills fleas for only 24 hours, Comfortis protects cats against fleas for an entire month. However, Comfortis is not safe for kittens younger than 14 weeks old, while Capstar is safe for kittens as young as 4 weeks old. The short answer to your questions is that no, the spray cannot be used in the same fashion as the single-dose ampules. The dose of the spray is also approximated based on body weight and does not have a well-regulated, metered dose like the ampules do.Although Frontline Plus for both dogs and cats contain the same active ingredients, there are differences in the dosage of active ingredients and inactive ingredients, so the dog products should never be shared with cats. Water exposure, bathing or shampooing does not affect the efficacy of the product as long as it doesn’t occur more than once a week or within 2 days of application of the product. If the product really doesn’t seem to be working, there are other things to consider like application errors, bathing within 24 hours of application, etc.
