In 2015 an entry of the Facebook version of Ask Vector Prime dubbed this version of Rodimus as "Fire Rodimus" and gave some background to him. This figure was only available in a two-pack with Bumblebee, also under the Autobots Unite subline imprint.

As a Warrior, his signature Time Bubble Cannon decelerates enemies preventing them from Evading, and can Accelerate his own Power Rate. However, a discussion with Takara staff revealed that this was a coincidence, as Duke Fire's designer had not seen the New Rodimus design. The Transformers: The Movie is the source of inspiration for the rest of his additional gadgets and features, including a built-in version of the retractable visor from the Lookout Mountain scene, (dropped over the figure's eyes by rotating the circular "ears" on its helmet), the buzzsaw he used in battle on Quintessa, and the welding torch he used to repair Kup. His left arm also hides a flip-out "comm unit" that is clearly supposed to be the buzzsaw he used for a brief period in the Movie.

He is packed with a similarly translucent Deluxe Class Optimus Prime from the Classics "Ultimate Battle" pack and 2008 Universe Special Edition. His peg holes were modified for the third time, enlarged once again to accommodate Firebolt, and his Photon Lasers' pegs were similarly widened to fit comfortably in the newly-sized ports. While claimed to not be "canceled", Walmart quickly moved on from the Velocitron Collection, and Hasbro has no plans to release Autobot Hot Rod.

A mod can be done to fully extend the legs exposing these knee details, though, the figure does become rather tall and looks somewhat strange proportionally with them fully extended. Autobot Hot Rod also features orange-yellow paint on his vehicle headlights, and an Autobot sigil on his vehicle hood/robot chest, just like his Henkei and Reveal the Shield figures. This figure was available with a Hot Rod pin and Macrocosmic Seekers booklet directly from e-HOBBY, he was also released in Asian countries outside of Japan without said pin and booklet. In another, even more baffling change, an extra plastic tab was added to Hot Rod's legs before final production to keep them from fully extending and revealing his sculpted knee detail. One of the first concepts for Classics Rodimus was based around the Pagani Zonda super car, before the Dome Zero design was decided upon.If you're lucky enough, you still can find him somewhere (albeit in VERY limited quantities) in late 2019.
