About this deal

With such a low track record, we haven’t yet tried the cool-looking advanced version which locks certain doors and requires gems be picked up in a certain (hidden! Ghost Fightin’ Treasure Hunters is a great example of a game that does this and the Creepy Celler Expansion manages to make this fantastic game even more interesting and engaging. The game is fabulous, the most remarkable thing is its adaptive scalability for children and adults players. Those perfect games to start with that will entice and encourage your adult friends to want to play more of the strategy board games that may not be as flashy or easy to learn but are still just as fun. But, despite the variance in the die/cards, the game usually comes down to how the group chooses to manage the ghost threat.

The treasure hunters start out right outside of the house and take turns rolling the movement die, revealing a ghost card which generally adds an additional ghost to the game board, then moving their piece, and either picking up a treasure jewel and/or fighting a ghost if you have successfully made your way to a room with a ghost in it. I’ve actually seen a few German ladies walking around with them as earrings… The player movers are also well designed with a great amount of detail. It makes Ghost Fightin’ Treasure Hunters feel more balanced, polished and more of a game for hobby gamers and less of a mass-market kids game. As you move and play, you continue to turn over additional ghost cards that have letters on them for which room you are required to add an additional ghost.

The game has a great deal of luck, but just enough strategy in the decisions that you can nicely second-guess yourselves later. Anche la sfida ai fantasmi è divertente, eseguita sempre in modo semplice con lancio di dadi sfida dedicati. If a board game sparks our imagination we can take that experience and use it later in the backyard together. It is a very challenging game for us, and has become one of our go-to cooperative games (along with Samurai Spirit). Ghost Fightin’ Treasure Hunters is a great example of a thematic cooperative game that isn’t just about placing and removing cubes on a map.

As a premise this is simply a roll and move game which sees you traversing the house to retrieve gems and to prevent the ghosts from building up and forming together to create more imposing enemies that takes cooperation with another player to beat. You need to be a bit more efficient at fighting the ghosts in the advanced version because the game will take significantly longer to play. As Dale said, the advanced game can cause a bit more of a chain reaction (primarily from the frequent shuffles making some locations appear more often. If you reveal the Shuffle card, you take all the cards and shuffle them to form a new deck for the next draw. Every single turn comes with a chance to add a new ghost to the mansion, and if three ghost pieces (very awesome ghost pieces) are in the same room, they are replaced by a spooky haunting piece. The expansion pack increases the tension even more with the addition of cursed jewels and a tricky Ghost King. When our 4 year old son wants to play we simply use the standard rules and everyone still has a great time! Jinxed Items get put into your kid’s backpack and fill it up until you are able to get rid of the item by moving to the room with the same letter on it as the token you just acquired. Once rooms are haunted, you also then have to watch out for the cascading/snowballing effect of ghost placement.

This is a significant change to the game and something that makes it much easier to get around the board. Likewise, i see this as an excellent game to get your kids interested in the hobby and sat round the table. As for Creepy Cellar, if you already own Ghost Fightin’ Treasure Hunters and like it, even just a little bit, this is a must purchase (assuming you can find it).

I would go so far as to say that Creepy Cellar completes Ghost Fightin’ Treasure Hunters, making it a deeper game with more player options and more replayability. If they have another treasure hunter with them they get an extra die and can defeat up to 2 ghosts or even a Haunting. Even with having all of the contents of those two previous promos, this boxed expansion has even more content and new stuff that hadn’t been released before. My kids especially loved the new card art and got a kick out of what each ghost is doing in each room on the cards. they actually wanted to spend time together , made my momma heart happy for sure ) The easiest set of rules would be just right for younger children.

This is such a great game for kids who are at different skill levels yet want to play a game together.
