About this deal

A lot of the names are from Isaac Asimov's short story "Sally", which is about sentient (robotic) cars. He appears again in Cars 3. He is apparently now serving as the crew chief for his nephew, Cal Weathers, who later retires from racing. Early in the film, he compliments one of Cal's attempted insults. At the end, he is seen alongside Tex Dinoco and Cal Weathers, where they allow Cruz Ramirez to become Dinoco's next racer. [2] Video games [ ] Cars: The Video Game [ ]

Cars was originally going to be called Route 66, which would make a lot of sense because of the location that the movie takes place in. The release title was chosen to avoid confusion with the 1960s TV series of the same name as the working title. Oh, hey there, champ. I heard you're selling mudflaps after today. Is that true? Hey, you put me down for the first case, okay?" In a post-credits scene, a minivan couple named Van and Minny, who earlier asked the people in Radiator Springs for directions to the interstate despite Van constantly declining, are shown still wandering in the desert all tired, dirty, and weary with Minny desperately complaining Van to ask for directions, and in his insanity, he still declines and thinks an off-road ramp is close by to them. He won from his second to his last race to be champion of the Piston Cup at the Southern Speedway until the Los Angeles 500 for McQueen and the veterans to enjoy his retirement. At one point, Aiken Axler appears at the Shiny Wax pit stop when he should be at the Nitroade pit stop.During his stay in Radiator Springs, Lightning has a tendency to show disgust toward the townsfolk at first. He either scowls or rolls his eyes at whatever they do for him, especially Mater and Doc. He drops it by the finale. Sally, a lawyer, is a Porsche. "Portia" used to be a slang term for a female lawyer (after Portia, who disguised herself as a lawyer to defend Antonio in The Merchant of Venice). Fantasy Landmark Equivalent: Radiator Springs and the desert scenery around it are based on real landmarks, including: Cars 3 has a scene similar to the aforementioned one in the first film that's even more beautiful, showing the advancements the animation giant has made over the past 11 years, looking even more photorealistic than it did in 2006. What's an X Like You Doing in a Y Like This?: Lightning asks Sally how did a Porsche like her end up in the middle of Radiator Springs. She mentions how she was an attorney in California who broke down near Radiator Springs. Since she was happy around the caring townsfolk, she decided to stay.

The sign "City of Emeryville – Closed for the race" is a nod to Pixar's headquarters in Emeryville, California in the San Francisco Bay Area. Camera Abuse: At the end of The Stinger with Minny and Van, one of the VW "bugs" flies into the camera lens, leaving a smudge from its hood. Hey, McQueen, you alright? Listen, don't you worry, pal, you had a good run. Enjoy your retirement!"Out-Gambitted: Lightning attempts to escape Radiator Springs after Mater removes the parking boot, only to immediately run out of gas after a few miles, because Sally and Sheriff siphoned his gas while he passed out overnight. Get Out!: Doc says this to Lightning twice, following him witnessing his real driving leading him to reveal his dark past, making Lightning realizing what he should truly be. Beginning in mid-2017, a subseries, "Cars Origins", is being published to tie in with the release of the third movie, which explains the origins of the three leads. It has also been noted that the plot of Cars bears a striking resemblance to that of Doc Hollywood, the 1991 romantic comedy which stars Michael J. Fox as a hotshot young doctor, who, after causing a traffic accident in a small town, is sentenced to work at the town hospital, falls in love with a local law student and eventually acquires an appreciation for small-town values.

Oh, My Gods!: Minny to Van in The Stinger: "Oh, for the love of Chrysler...can we PLEASE ask someone for directions?!" I Never Told You My Name: Fred. Everyone knows who he is because his license plate holder and license plate say "Hello, my name is" and "FRED", respectively. As a result, when McQueen says his name, he shouts, "He knows my name! He knows my name!" and gets so excited that his front bumper (which happens to be his lower jaw) falls off. Hey, where you been, McQueen? I've been kind of lonely. No one to hang out with, oh, except the Dinoco folks. Oh, and the twins. Of course. You know, the twins, the ones that used to be your fans, but now they're my fans. Anyway, listen to what the twins think. During the end credits, car-stylised versions of Toy Story, A Bug's Life, and Monsters, Inc. are seen playing at the Radiator Springs Drive-In Theatre. The King is kind, caring about others, and quite the gentlemen unlike Lightning McQueen was at the start of the film. He is a veteran of many races but is also a devoted husband and enjoys the thought of retirement. He is also an honorable racer and would never resort to cheating. The King was at first in the Cars film competing with McQueen to finish as well as giving him advice that it's not about winning, but in the end of Cars, the King became friends with McQueen after he chose to concede and saved him from his crash in the Los Angeles International Speedway. As a result, his nephew and successor, Cal Weathers would later become one of McQueen's new close friends and rivals during the events of Cars 3.

Books:

Los Angeles International Speedway is meant to be the Auto Club Speedway, but with the outer facade of the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, and interior architecture from the Rose Bowl. note Nearly 16 years later, the LA Coliseum would eventually become the location of a NASCAR race, the 2022 Clash held on February 6 of that year, prior to the running of the Daytona 500. Shown Their Work: Watch the DVD extras to see the amount of work that went into even minor details that virtually nobody will notice. This is especially noticed in the second film. Especially when many of the Mooks turn out to be Lemons and Mater's spiel about car parts. Badass Driver: Taken literally with Lightning, as he actually is the car, and has mad skills. Doc Hudson turns out to be this as well.
